1940 337 rc k98

I used acetone to remove the flaky shellac, and then some tung oil to bring a bit of the finish back out. I wanted to use blo but I didn't have any and didn't want to buy some to do it. I'm very happy how it turned out.

To the right buyer it may have more value - but it is an RC - so you lose a premium value.

I'd buy it from you...I'm a bit of an RC collector.

Some K98's like byf44 - over 1x million were produced - so year sub 140,000 is pretty uncommon. You also have to wonder how many survived the war and the last 70+ years.

Even though it is an RC, it is still a rarer code. I have an RC BNZ41 and production was only around 120,000 rifles. Personally I value it a little higher than a BYF 43 OR 44 but most guys looking for a shooter couldn't care less. Some guys will have an RC with a rare code in their collection as a place holder until they find a non capture with the same code.
