Now that the weather is finally getting a little better, I decided to take out one of my all-time favourites for a few photos. Here we have a 1941-produced SVT-40 from the Podolsk factory. This one is a bit of oddity, due to not only being from a rarer arsenal, but also due to the fact that it’s sitting in a repurposed AVT-40 stock.

With all of this said, I’m wondering if any other members here have a Podolsk SVT-40?

I have one, it has no rails and I think it’s in an avt stock as well
Has a few stock repairs and a darkish bore
It actually shoots really well though
Didn’t think the podolsk svts were any poorer quality wise?

They were. This manufacturer was the worst in terms of % of rifle that didn't pass military acceptance. And was the first when it came to adapting new changes. Podolsk are the least common and highly desirable.

Interesting facts about quality and scarcity. Good to know. I have a Podolsk with rail. It shoots nicely with handloads, but I put shims under the barrel at the barrel bands.
