What does this do that my BCG doesn't do?

It's a sh!tpile lighter. If you were going for a low mass build, this would be the ticket.

I have a low mass skeletonized steel carrier in my SLR, and I briefly considered replacing it with a Ti carrier. Buuut then I didn't. lol. Had this been available at the time for under $300, I would have bought it instead.

Its 3.7 ounces lighter than my Standard Brownells BCG. Does anyone know if you could use a 6.5 Grendel bolt in one of these bolt carriers? I only ask, as Brownells doesn't make a lightweight grendel BCG. Was wondering if there was a reason for that.

The AR-15 bolt carrier is the same for any caliber that's compatible with the AR-15, as far as I know? Obviously the bolt face itself is different, but where it interfaces with the carrier should be the same.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Not rust. There are other issues. https://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=363923

keep in mind the weight of the BCG is designed to function with a given weight of https://www.rifleshootermag.com/editorial/changing-buffer-weight-on-ar15s/83752

I love Ti and Al. But all metals and engineering has a purpose in mind. IMO This Ti BCG would be ideal for SEAL's. Otherwise TI firing pins have advantages in faster lock times. Which can also be achieved with a stringer firing pin spring.

This BCG may result in cycling issues if nothing else changes.

"The Brownells M16 Titanium Bolt Carrier Group uses a carrier machined from 6A1-4V titanium and includes a bolt made using 9310 tool steel"

If they are ordered from Brownells and under$500 total then yes to both.
Ive bought a good number of BCGs and 9mm 1911 magazines from them.

You're good to go.

EDIT: just make sure the magazine capacity doesn't exceed Canadian magazine capacity limits because I don't think they will pin them and then ship them. They'll just cancel them from your order.

I always marvel at how some guys will spend a sh!tpile of $$$ to save a gram or two. I do appreciate the goal as my Rifle is a bloody boat anchor, but I really have to question if swapping any part other than the barrel is worth the weight saving if the price goes up dramatically.

Yeah, it is worth it. The brownells BCG almost saves 1/2 a lb. That's big on a 6lb rifle.
