I got a old one sitting in the safe and it has a metal vented upper handguard, not a wood. Now I cannot remember if they ever was issued with metal one. I don't think its original to the gun. Not esp in 1942.

Was thinking putting on a GI wooden. But not sure if vented was real or not.

Deans Gun Restoration has some GI M1 carbine handguards for sale. They will ship to Canada up to 500 bucks value. I think they only accept credit card for Int'l orders though.

the M1 carbine was on the us NO export list no matter what the value this may have changed im not sure

Yep. The Carbine is considered too evil to export parts without the permit. Try Western Gun Parts. Mind you, I wouldn't spend much on any Carbine due to their restricted status.
Metal hand guards are commercial only.

Some people spend 5-10K on AR15 and they're restricted and not as cool. I want to bring it back to its 1942 Nature and that great you wont spent much on something with a history.

That's what I thought, so I asked them. They replied that they will send up to $500 product value to Canada. I ordered a Winchester Carbine stock with hand guard and it was delivered to me in 2 weeks.
