I acquired this rifle 20 yrs ago in a trade. Im curious to learn more about it. If any of the Lee Enfield experts could chime in with info, it would be much appreciated.

First off, it looks to me to have been re-finished at some point in its history, as the finish seems a bit too glossy and I dont see any markings on the exterior of the wood. Thoughts? Yes or No?

There's a repair to the stock near the butt plate. Arsenal or bubba repair?

Any help with some of the stampings on the metal..ie that mark under the 77C.. in the first pic...would again be appreciated.

In the last pic..it looks like they lost the "L" for the serial number on the bolt and used an upside down 7.

Thanks in advance.

The finish is pretty glossy. You can tone it down with some fine steel wool. The butt repair is common to armourer repair. The upside down 7 is okay. I don't know about the marking under the 77.

Nice early LB, with sporterized wood as zillions of them had done to them. I think the metal finish is untouched. I like that soft grey.

You just need some military wood and bands etc to put it back to right...as long as the barrel is original length.
