It appears I could do with some enlightenment.
I just read a post from another member stating he is still looking for that elusive 1943 Longbranch .... Are 1943 Longbranch No 4s particularly scarce? I have an unissued 1943 Longbranch and it appears I may be more blessed than I realized. I am very pleased to have an unissued Longbranch manufactured during the war years, but never attached any additional significance to the 1943 date of manufacture.

They're all elusive if you're actively looking for them. Especially in this day and age of immediate satisfaction expectations.

Part of the fun of collecting certain types is the search. Acquisition may feel good for a while buttttttt?

As for the 1943 Longbranch, NO they aren't rare unless you're looking for something unusual manufactured in that time period, which was one of the most active production years.

Like others have stated, Long Branch produced a lot of No 4's in 1943. What can be elusive is finding one in the exact original configuration it left the factory in. Matching serial numbers and Mk 2 rear sight. Many were sporterized after the war, FTR'ed in service, had the rear sights changed to Mk3, mags, bolts changed and mismatched for some reason. Really nice enfields are becoming very scarce. Been scarce for a while now.
