Hi Folks,
I picked-up this rifle today at a good deal. I really love it but I need some more info. I believe that's is a 1945 RFI Rifle Factory Ishapore Enfield MkIII. The botl and the receiver match. the bolt I call a fat head because it's twice the size of my No.4.
It came with no mag, my No 4 MK1 mags don't work in it so I'll have to find a Mk III is this correct?
Can any one tell me what the markings mean.
I had this old bayonet on my wall that I bought at a antique store years ago and doesn't the darn thing fit. Would have been the proper one they used in 1945?
She'll need a good cleaning-up but I think I got a good find here.
Thanks for any and all info.

Needs a No. 1 Mk III mag. Marstar lists surface rusted mags at $35 each. The picture shows serious rust.
Not a 'fat head' bolt. Just a No. 1 Lee-Enfield bolt. Check the headspace even though the S/N's match. Downside is that if it's bad(matching numbers guarantees nothing), the bolt heads are not numbered like those on a No. 4. Requires a handful to try with proper headspace gauges.
That is the correct bayonet. If you have the scabbard, it's worth a fair bit of money due to the condition. $100+.
The flag stamps are proof marks. RFI is Rifle Factory Ishapore. The SA with the broad arrow is India's version of the C and the broad arrow.

Thanks for the info Sunray. Actually there is less rust then the pics show. The rifle as covered in a heavy thick brownish grease.

Nice rifle. I think Sunray meant Marstar's mags have lots of rust. You should be able to find a good one at a gunshow for $50-70 with little trouble, maybe a but less if you get lucky. I'd love to see some good photos of this one out in the sunlight.

You show the markings on the LEFT side of the Butt Socket. Are there any on the RIGHT side also?

Could make a huge difference.

Nice rifles and they can really shoot when you have them in good trim.

NOTHING wrong with an Ishapore rifle; just not quite so pretty as a London rifle! Proof test was the same.

Ger the old girl cleaned up and she will still do the Mad Minute for you!

So I spent the whole day cleaning up the Enfield. Boy was she packed in cosmoline. The end result was that the butt stock looks like a replacement because of the colour differences. I took some more photos and found some more markings.
