1945 Long Branch Sniper Rifle

I could not resist firing the unit to confirm collocation and zero. I have also let certain appreciative friends have a go, with a retired Master Sniper managing hits on IPSC steel out to 800m! That Scoped Rifle set me back $15K..., but then so did the Tikka action in a KRG Whiskey Chassis with Nightforce ATACR glass that I fire all of the time..

I have since acquired a repro Taiwanese No 32 Scope for casual live fire with the No 4 Mk 1* (T) Rifle, thus preserving and protecting the genuine, matched No 32 Scope from harm.

Man, I need more time behind my replica. I've only managed hits out to 550yds so far and found I really struggled with the scope. A part of that is the Taiwanese scope had a flaw right at the centre of the image that made it fuzzy, which made seeing a distant target quite difficult. I have sent the scope back to the importer, who is now sending me a replacement. Hopefully this will solve the problem.

In comparison, my purpose built 308W target rifle, running modern 24x scope makes that same 550yd shot absolute childs play. Where I struggled to keep rounds on the steel with the Enfield, I was playing at intentional B-zone hits with the modern 308 rifle.

I, like Bartok like to shoot these old gems. I currently have 7 cdn snipers, 4 brits, 2 "Mericans and a german one.

My fav is a battle used?? 90L with a mismatched scope and bracket that shoot very well at our club on the 100 and 200 yd ranges

My father won 5 Queen's Medals with both the No.4 and C1. His LB (T) rifle came to me in the will. He had to go to Connaught for a match and wanted to check his zeros on the T. When he got to St-Bruno range the relays had moved back to 900 when he arrived. Out with the rifle, sling, turn the No.32 to 900, Mk7Z out of the cardboard box, and fires a shot. The target goes down, and comes up V-Bull. Whoa! Let's make sure he says, and fires another shot. Down and up comes another V-Bull. That's good enough! And he packs up to carry on to Ottawa. MOA is possible with those rifles, but that was definitely not the acceptance standard.

When you see some of the cobbled together mismatches for $6-10k, $14.5k for an all matching complete British set almost seems appropriate. Although I think prices were already too high to begin with, and have skyrocketed recently. Even since you acquired your LB. Just my .02.

I still think that anything over $10K CAD for a matched British set of Rifle, Scope, Bracket, Scope Case and Transit Chest is deserving of the utmost scrutiny and discretion. If we accept that prices have already jumped again since I acquired my LB Sniper last Spring, then $15K for a matched British set further implies a new record "value" of $20K for a premium, matched LB set. If so, that is one heck of a return on my original investment - assuming one can find a buyer at such frighteningly high prices...

I remember in 1970s a gun shop in my area had 2 surplus Num 4 T complete as issued with scope matched
in FTR condition with armorers tags with transit case for 250 bucks !!
True story a friend mine bought one.
