1945 sks

I have a sks that says 1952 on the reciver cover but when i looked at registration it is 1945 and all the number match ecept for the cover so dont know much about sks but is a 1945 rare to own

The serial number on all of the parts is 1945? The cover has the year the rifle was produced on the top (1952) right under the factory stamp, which in your case is probably a star with an arrow inside. The serial number should be on th back of the cover. It will be different than the year. Sounds like you have a rifle with the serial number 1945. They didn't make sks's in 1945.

The original SKS was named SKS-45 for the year of design. In China, it's the Model 56.

If the serial# is 1945 then yes it's rare to own.....you probably have the only one on the planet! lol!

SKS was born before AK47 (1947) Russia was looking for Automatic rifle not semi so SKS was not adopted

The SKS is a Soviet semi-automatic carbine chambered for the 7.62x39mm round, designed in 1945 by Sergei Gavrilovich Simonov. SKS is an acronym for Samozaryadnyj Karabin sistemy Simonova (Russian: Самозарядный карабин системы Симонова), 1945 (Self-loading Carbine of (the) Simonov system, 1945), or SKS 45. The Soviets rather quickly phased the SKS carbine out of first-line service, replacing it with the AK-47, but it remained in second-line service for decades afterwards. It remains a ceremonial arm today. It was widely exported and produced by the former Eastern Bloc nations, as well as China, where it was designated the "Type 56", East Germany as the "Karabiner S" and in North Korea as the "Type 63". It is today popular on the civilian surplus market in many countries. The SKS was one of the first weapons chambered for the 7.62x39mm M43 round later used in the AK-47 and RPD.

1945 on the registration is just part of the RCMP model name. Nothing to do with the year of your particular rifles manufacture.
Build date is on the receiver cover.

Post pictures to be super sure, but it is 99% a 1952 SKS.

SKS45 is the model name of the gun, it was designed and accepted by the military in 1945, but not built until 1949.

Just like the AK47 came onstream in 1947 and the SVT40 was designed in 1940.
