Just finished the book 1945 by Ken Cuthbertson and have to say this is one of the best reads about Canada and the pivotal year that made modern Canada. From troops fuming at waiting to return to Canada, "Rocket Richard", the Halifax riots, the Marsh report, a loony PM King, war brides, "The bomb" and ending with a Cipher clerk defecting. As the first line in the Introduction says "There has never been another year like it, and it seems unlikely there ever will be again"
