Maybe 1947 or 48 was the first years with "standard" SKS top covers - Because 1944, 1945, and 46 are completely different styles...

I believe 1944 model was suppose to have removable magazine until comrade Stalin had his input

Hard to tell if that says 1948 or 1949. The 9 and the possible 8 look very similar.
