As the model 71 in 348 Winchester is my favorite lever gun/calibre combo, that video made my day!! My first was a standard grade that during a moment of weakness, I parted with. That was a move :( I regretted about a minute after doing so. As luck would have it, a few months later, I spotted a MINT deluxe model at a local gun show. I NEEDED it, but the price was top end so I held back. Saw it available again at the next local show, and I weakened. Highly unlikely I'd ever see another in that condition, and seeing as I 'NEEDED' it, I bit the bullet and picked it up. A KEEPER!! Later, from a site member, I acquired a set of sling swivels. As the opportunities have presented themselves, I've acquires a good supply of brass plus Barnes Originals in 220gr FP and 250gr FP as well as some Hornady 200gr FP Interlock. IF I come across some Winchester Silver-Tip bullets in any weight at up coming shows............ :)

Neat video on the 71. Pity Winchester didn't just use an improved .33 Win load & call it the .33 Win Express. Would be much easier to source .338 bullets for and
perform just as well as the .348 version. Marketing gone goofy as usual.

I want one of these soooo bad. Beauty levers. In today’s modern world I think we really bypass simplicity in some cases. That would be a great rifle for thick cover moose elk and bear.

I reload my 1937, Ackley Improved deluxe with built in peep sight with 250grs Woodleigh @ 2400fps. Man what a rifle. Anyone who handles it can feel the balance, the smooth tight action and how it shoulders. They don't make them like they use to. IF I need a back up...well...I never had to.

Folks wanting a fresh '71 should seriously look into the numerous versions of the Pedersoli 86/71. They are very well made and accurate units.
They ain't cheap, but they are worth it in my book. Caliber choices on these is mainly 45-70 along with 444 Marlin in certain models. Me 86/71
be my favorite & most accurate .45-70 I've ever owned for using hardcast & jacketed bullets.

This version be nice for folks that like to push the bush. Checkout the whole lineup. Most bases are covered except for the .348 chambering.:)
