Umm yeah that doesn’t look good. Even better, why not post comparison pics with your original SAGE stock?

Great pics. The difference looks quite clear and as you described. You contacted the seller today?

Ya that does not look like a factory job too me and I've handled more sage chassis than most.

Seller says he bought it new from bashaw sports and has never messed with it. He also didn’t deny my request to send it back to him. I only now offered to split the cost of a new buttstock. You may ask why I would split the cost and it’s because I am honest. I bought a used stock and a replacement buttstock would be new. Since all the moving parts of the stock are contained in the buttstock, any play on the buttstock would be non-existent. That is worth something to me. Now I’m just waiting for a quote from Bashaw.

I have an LRB / TRW build that is never seen a stock and now it’s going to have to wait a little longer :(

Perhaps it was a warranty return with stripped threads and that how sage “fixes them” and they are resold? but for my build I need something pristine and that’s not it. He showed me a picture of another stock that had similar welds and the extra metal in front of the original threads.

I have seen other examples of his style of buttstock construction in pictures on the Internet. I have emailed Sage directly and sent them photo of both examples and am waiting to hear a from them. Will update...

i'm not sure I would accept that item. if that was not listed in the description, or visible in photo's, that is shady. my .02
hope it works out, those chassis systems are pretty slick.

I have shot wood, fibreglass, blackfeather and sage. For me it’s sage hands down. If sage emails me back and says they have constructed them both ways I will accept the chassis. Even though cosmetically it’s looks the pits and there is a slight weight increase and ergonomic difference I will use it as the “modification” wouldn’t affect function or accuracy. I have one more usgi set and 2007 norc receiver to merry up after the LRB so I’m going to get one more sage anyways. The next one I will purchase new....
Either way, the seller has been in good communication and open to my opinion and concerns and I’m happy about that. If he has never owned one before this one in question and received it like it is, then I don’t believe he would look twice at the “modification”.
That said, I’ll just wait to hear from Sage and go from there. Thanks for your opinions and input.
