Will old style 1949 bolt&carrier assembly work in later model SKS (1956 for example)?

Has anyone tried it?

1949 bolt assembly has spring loaded firing pin. I just want to use it in my shooter SKS. I read reviews that after market spring loaded firing pins are no good.

I would install a Murray's spring loaded firing pin. I put one on my hunting SKS last year with no problems. Several years ago Murray had problems with the alloy from a manufacturer. When failures started occurring they found the problem and started using a different alloy. Cost of a firing pin is around $70.00. Google and you will see.

Yes as long as head space is good it will function fine.

If you are going to use a 49 bolt and carrier, check the condition of spring on firing pin. There is a good chance that bolt was used with corrosive ammo. Spring may be worse for wear and fail inside bolt.
