Just a heads up for anyone looking for a '49 of any description. It is a heavy refurb, 45° gas block, blade bayo, new style stock, grey rear sight. But receiver and cover are unmistakably 1949. If anyone is looking to get a '49 of any description into their collection, here is one. They are asking the standard $189 for it.

They're generally all refurbed to some extent, but some are much closer to original. Lacking the 90 degree gas block hurts it, but for $189 it's a fine placeholder in a collection!

Has the 1949 cover, skeleton cover pin lever, none/spring assist safety lever, spring assisted firing pin, etc. So lots of early features. It does have a 'black' spike bayonet, but thoughts are that it is M44 converted bayonet versus an early SKS bayo - but not a Chinese spike bayo for sure.

My best '49 is as close as I've ever seen to non-refurb. All numbers are matching, everything is '49 correct and original. There is no sign of anything being redone, BUT the receiver cover bears the telltale "<>" mark. My other 49's are also numbers matching, but lack the shallow HW stock, making them certain refurbs. Unissued/non-refurbs may exist, but I've never personally seen one. If someone has an outstanding one, it would be worth a couple grand to me if they want to sell.
