This arrived from a dealer in Cambridgeshire, a client had bought it on Guntrader and I am his local registered dealer;

Its a very nice piece and despite having the Sako Butt plate it has no model nummber. It was rebarreled about 2 years ago into 6.5 x 55 and testing it today was great fun;

It also shot very well, both groups were Privi 139 grain, the cross was fmj, 4 in an inch and 1 flier;

139 grain soft points on the bench rest targets, again 1 flier, usually the 3rd or 4th shot as well;

I've just got off the phone to the chap who has bought it, I told him its a keeper. He wants to have the barrel screw cut and a moderator fitted but I told him to wait and see first, shoot it although its not going to be ruined he will enjoy it without a can on the end. his Steyr SSG is already fitted with a moderator and its so damn heavy.

Tim,
They use FN actions and were also made with the Supreme action. They have very, very good triggers, one of the best a Mauser can get.
The original barrels were "micro-grooved" (hammer-forged).
They were made
I have one of the late (according to Sako, mine hit the American ground 18th of December '58 - it was sent to Firearms international) based on the Supreme, in '06, and it shoot quite well.
They were mainly made from 1951 to 1960 but were still being made well after the introduction of the L61R in 1962 - they were sold in quite large numbers to Weatherby beyond others.
S/N starts at 100001 and mine is 1112XX....
Nice rig.... I agree with you, he should not modifiy it, but heh!, it's his toy...

As you say its his rifle, well if he collects it that is, damn its nice. I know there are so many nice used rigs out there looking for a good home!
Thanks for the info, I'll pass it on.
