Was at my local sporting goods store and picked this guy up from a pile of about 20 SKS's. Needle in a hay stack find I'm told by more informed folks then myself. I got it for $199!

Appears all original, matching and non refurbished.

Nice score for sure, I was at a gun show a few weeks ago and me and another guy dug through a crate. He grabbed a non refurbed izzy and I snatched up a 56 Tula k series non refurb.......175$ all in. The owner told me he had another crate in the truck that I was welcome to have a look through.......in a moment of what can only be explained as utter retardation, I declined.

Sweet

And you didn't even need a jock barnacle to tell you where to find a good one (jacques pun probably not intended)

Please don't bubba this one!!! It's a really nice find congrats..(the only one I don't have in my collection)
Sometime ,you can go in a gun shop without any ideas of what you will find, and wow you found this :)
Two weeks ago, it was the same stories for me except it was a rare tula 1955 stamped on the receiver cover in a nice hardwood stock and golden bayo all original, matching and non refurbished for $189

Nice...congrats!

I have one too. I have read they are considered rare as they were only made in late 53 & 54 in the Izhevsk (Izzy) armory. It's thought about 5 times more 54 Izzy's were produced, than 53 Izzy's, making them pretty rare.

I have a 54 Izhevsk and the bolt carrier and the bayo are polished. Even the firing pin is polished. It is by far the best looking sks. Yours looks polished as well.

Thats a nice SKS you found, what shop did you find it at? I'm looking for one myself and will hopefully have one before long, I'm just shopping around now. I live in Newmarket and will be checking out some of the shops in the area, anyone have any recommendations on a good shop with some inventory? I think I would prefer a Russian made SKS compared to a Chinese made, unless I end up getting one of each.
I like the fact that the Chinese guns are new and unfired, thats really the only reason I'd like one.

I grabbed that one at Trombly's Tackle Box in Orillia. It was the only Izhevsk they had. I heard Epps is getting in an order of Factory 26 Chinese SKS's soon in un-issued condition.
