Kylevan---just a thought. Does the number on the barrel match the receiver? Also to clarify, does it say Winchester on the receiver?

Yes both stamped with 34914. Yes it does, right side says "Made by Winchester western Canada limited"

Couple of more questions I just thought of to try and narrow down production date. Does it have a plastic or steel forearm spacer and is the receiver stamped steel or cast?
The receiver, trigger gaurd, and hammer all have blueish case colouring.
Sounds like someone did it just to mess with you! That is definitely a strange one! So given that you now know basically everything about the gun do you have an idea of value. I get that it's hard to say because you can't tell for sure the condition ( which is very good). Just looking for ballpark to know how I did purchasing it. Thanks again
Your dropping a fired shell in it proves nothing it probaly has the folds into the tapered forcing cone which makes the exit diameter too small. This can make the chamber pressure rise to dangerous levels. The right tool I would believe and I would make triple sure being an 84 since they didnot come 3" based on anything I have ever read or seen and have seen a lot of these but again maybe someone had it reworked who knows
Cheers
I've got a Cooey/Winchester with a 30" barrel that says it is chambered in 2 1/2" and 3"; looks like this:
