Came into a nice 1966 Wingmaster 12 ga with the vent rib and it's the Magnum model over the holidays.

Anyone know if you can swap barrels on an old Remington like this with a newer barrel of more modern today manufacturing?

Just thinking about getting a slug barrel for it as well.

Express barrels and some newer Wing master barrels lack the detent on the barrel ring to make use of your vintage mag cap. Before purchasing look for the little spring loaded ball on the forward barrel ring and you will be good to go. Oh ya Special Field versions will not fit at all.

Umm strange they did not make 3inch chambers back in 66.
Does your serial number end in V .

?? Off the top of my head I am positive I have a 1955 magnum ADL in the batch somewhere
Cheers

Update. From my books the magnum was introduced in 1955 probally why I saved the one I have. Found it listed in the 56 price list , have not looked for the 55 one but it should be there also
Cheers

Ends with an M. (You just screwin with me Simon?)

Date codes on the barrel say December 1966 and I had a look at the 66 Rem catalog and the exact same gun is displayed with the same fluer de lis checkering and it shows the 870 magnum. Barrel date code is XN.

Thanks for the help guys, I'll keep my eyes open, glad to hear I can use "most" barrels on it

Everything but the SF version will fit which are few and far between anyway. You can even use
Super Magnum barrels to my memory but you can only shoot up to 3" shells in this combination.

Don't let the different mag cap design scare you off either. It is nothing that a spring ring spacer or standard O-ring will not keep in check
