1968 weatherby custom mark V left hand info

I have just bought 1968 weatherby mark V left handed 24" bar. it had never been fired had a m8 Leopold 4x how rare is it and what is it worth
 
I have a 73 worth max $700. Without more info or a pic it's really hard to say. If its just got a few custom touches it might be worth 1500 with great wood. Sky is the limit with more customization. If its a 460 its worth more again. A pic is needed
 
My neighbor won a laser mark in 300 weatherby 30 msome years ago and he hasn't put the bolt in it yet. He hims and haws when I ask him to sell it he just can't make up his mind. The stock is going bad on it the clear coat is cracking and it is starting to look bad. I would have given him 1600 ten years ago but now I think it is worth alot less.
 
It has a retail value of $900-$ 1,200.00 being a 68 isn;t that rare the one's from the 50's built on Mauser actions have a little more collectors value
 
Thanks it is 300 and looks like it just come out of the box not a mark on it not a virgin any more shoots great used it to take my elk this year I payed 1500 for it but I love it

My 1985 vintage SAKO AIII has the same thing happening. Don't want to hijack the thread but anyone ever restore one that was cracking?
 
I have had both weatherby and brownings where the plastic/epoxy/varathane ??..finish has crackled underneath the outer coat. The only answer is to strip all that finish off. After doing that I ended up giving them a rubbed oil finish in replacement as opposed to trying to 'brush or spray on another hard plastic coating.

I returned one such stock to browning years ago as a warranty issue. They advised that it was caused by the application of a finish coat before previous coats were dry??

anyway, they just replaced the stock with a new one..(that was when Browning was in Montreal!) Personaly I think those stocks are dipped into that finish, so hard to duplicate at home.
