1969 winchester 94 44 mag value?

Hey guys. Friend has one he's looking at selling. Ive been shooting it and its a decent little unit. Id say 90% easy, save for some freckling on the finish. Not severe though.
What would be a fair number to throw out there for a quick sale? Ive seen $1500 for some in worse shape but ive noticed that they tend to not move.

Not necessarily true.
I once owned a 1982ish Trapper 44 magnum.
As long as you didn't exceed over all length it was just fine.
Factory 246 grain 44 special, factiry 240 grain jacketed soft point and handloaded LBT style 300 cast.
Was very accurate to 100 yards it's buckhorn rear sight and front post.

Actually it is true I worked on many of them also the worst years of production 1965-1978 ish
Cast receivers all calibers some type of a black chrome Finnish that tends to flake off
Sent many back to Winchester back in the day also the stamped tin cartridge lift that would bend changed 100’s of them out .

As I said previously mine from 1982 was just fine. Solid lifter, blued receiver.
The black chromed receivers were only 1966-67.

Different strokes for different folks. The one I had was 100% reliable with factory and all the handloads I tried. I only had it a few years but my notes say I put over 400 rounds through it including my standard pistol reload and it accounted for one very large black bear at about 25 yards using a Speer 265 gr Gold Dot and A max load of Win 296 powder. Value? Condition, condition, condition. With rust freckling deduct 20% from the price of an excellent one.

To each their own but I think if I were gonna throw $1500 on a 44 levergun I would grab a vintage 1892 Winchester. Get a rifle that was actually designed to cycle pistol rounds not to mention higher quality and value appreciation. My 2 cents.

The only and only factor here is the cartridge over all length. If one is using it for wilderness wanderings there are several Buffalo Bore and Garrett long hard cast that cannot cycle through the otherwise wonderful M92.
