Hey y'all
My neighbour's mother just gave him a brand new in box 1873-1973 winchester model 94 rcmp centennial 30-30 rifle. The gun has not been out of the box ever!!!!!! all the tags ,manual and warrenty card are in there 2. mp model serial number 51XX. suppost to be only 5100 made
Anyone know what this may be worth. He wants to sell it. Any offers maybe I'm in the wrong forum. Any input would be great

If memory serves me correctly, the rifle made for RCMP members was to be a limit edition of 3000 rifles, distributed by draw within the Force. I think 13,000 were made, far more than the civilian model, so the 51XX serial number could be correct. At one time the civilian model was worth more than the RCMP version. Since your rifle is the MP Model, it probably has a history as being owned by a member of the RCMP.
Before someone suggests you send it to him with a $50 bill . . . get it appraised.

A regular 1873 RCMP Centennial NIB would have a value of $650. The MP model would be $1100 to a collector.

You cannot go by US prices as it is a different world and little chance of selling it there. Apples and oranges.

Sentimental pricing may bring you a few more bucks, but nothing drastic.

Put it this way. If your house burned down, your insurance company would pay you $650 for a regular rcmp and $1100 for an MP model.

There is your appraisal. Free of charge.
