I'm aging myself here but,I found this old catalog stashed away. The CIL 402 was my first shotgun.

I've got a 402 in 12 gauge 30"full choke and a "pos" 402 in 20 guage use the 12 for trap and never shot the 20, barrels bent stocks cracked, thinking about cutting the barrel to 19 and cutting the stock to add a folder it will make an interseting home protecting gun.

I have an old CIL catolog somewhere between 1972-74 kicking around as well as a bunch of other gun catologs but I can't find where I put those! My CIL 972C in .270 is in there. I think it was $160 at the time.

the C.I.L. model 402 was actually made by boito in either brazil or italy. C.I.L. was a trade name for all the guns they showed in their line. the model 607 pump was actually a savage model 67.

Yes, the butt plate on my 402 says Boito CBC.

It is definitely no Purdey, but it has its purpose. It makes an excellent dog training / testing gun.

yea it's a little cheaper than a purdy LOL but they were good shooters and a lot of people used the CIL line of rifles and shotguns for a long time for hunting. there was some nice looking guns in their line up and certainly served the purpose for people looking for an economy grade repeating rifle or shotgun, as well as the 402. unfortunately they are no longer, like cooey. one has to wonder how many people would not have been able to afford a hunting gun without them, thereby even further reducing our ranks. have a good one

I used to have a Franchi o/u with the CIL brand on it. presently I do have an Anshutz .22 with the CIL markings. They did sell some good quality firearms.
