Hi all,
I've got a safe queen that needs to move. It is an un-fired Winchester 30-30 Klondike Commemorative. Everything is 10/10. There is NO box. I am trying to find out what a fair asking price is as I've been given a range of 400-1200 cdn. Can those in the know make an educated suggestion?
Thanks

No box will hurt the value. A lot.

Do you have any of the paperwork that originally came with it?

If all you have is the rifle itself, I'd look to the lower end of the range you've been given. If you happen to find someone who really falls in love with it, maybe as high as $500-600.

Serious collectors are going to want the whole package, and someone looking for a nice shooter isn't going to pay too much of a premium.

I have seen them listed at $1200 and not seem to sell. I have never seen one in good shape get listed for $400.
I suspect that listing at $800 is a safe bet between selling quickly and not selling at all. More if it had the box.
I suspect that there will be at least a few rubs if not scratches after having been out of the box for some years.

The price on these have been going down for years. Collectors are getting holder and dying off. Less and less young people collecting. More guns on the market from estate sales and less collectors means low prices. You should get between $600-$750.

The problem is that Winchester would put out a commemorative rifle for the Dukes ingrown toenail. Over saturation has dropped the value considerably. Top dollar would come by selling it stateside, although as said, most serious collectors would give it a pass without the box and papers. What you have at the end of the day is a gussied up shooter

According to the Winchester Arms Collectors Association, there were 3 different Klondike Commemorative rifles issued in 1975, the Klondike Gold Rush+, the Klondike Gold rush Dawson City Issue+, and the Klondike Gold Rush Presentation. The Dawson City numbered 25 rifles and the Presentation numbered 15, and these could be expected to fetch top dollar by collectors and appreciate in value due to their small number. There were 10,500 Klondike Gold Rush+ rifles produced so their value could be expected to be significantly less; without the box, less than that. I think $500 sounds about right, but as suggested, asking $800 would be a good place to begin the negotiations, then if you can't get $500, you have the option of keeping it.

List it on the higher end. If it doesn't sell +/or feedback from potential buyers warrants you can always use the edit features in your EE ad to reduce it accordingly until you obtain a selling price that is suitable to you.
