A buddy and I will be putting on a new match this August and we will be renting the North Star range east of of Nokomis SK. Because of this rental agreement, we are asking for pre-registration, to ensure we are not left holding the bag for the weekend range rental fee.

Due to insurance requirements, you must hold a current membership with any of the following
  • Provincial Rifle Association
  • DCRA
  • Any club that carries insurance on it's members while shooting on another range during a competition
  • NRA

Our goal here is to draw out some new shooters. Please pass info on to other shooters and post at your home range.

Saturday's match will closely follow the IBS 1000 yd LG rules for group/score on a reduced target (1/2 MOA) and to my knowledge will be the first match of this kind in Canada.

Sunday's match will be a mini-palma on reduced targets (1/2 MOA) pairs shooting.

This match will be at the same time that Ottawa has it's Canadian Fullbore Rifle Championships and this match is for all of us shooters that do not go to Ottawa each year. Aug is pretty dry shot wise so come on out eh! Thx. Keith

BTT, and I talked to the Pres of SPRA, Doug P., and he said any valid membership with insurance at any range is good for match purposes and first time shooters to Nokomis.

To date, I have had not one email nor snail mail on this, maybe no one wants to shoot this...

The range is 6 miles or 10 km East of Nokomis SK, you can't miss it, North side of road.

Damn, if it wasn't such a long drive!!!!
Looks like a great match .
Hope you get your turnout and enough new blood to make it a regular thing.

BTT, it is getting closer to this date (Aug 25/26) and not one application form returned nor has any person said they will be coming... maybe this will not be an ANNUAL event after all.... I ordered the medals on Friday June 1st and we have the Driller's main trophy ready to go.

Kodiak,
Hope you don't mind me throwing in a couple comments ...if a problem please let me know and I'll delete.
To all shooters in the vicinity of this match...................
It takes a lot of work for individuals to organize and run a match with primarily the sole intentions of providing both new and experienced shooters a day of
enjoyment .Known to generally be a thankless job,it is thanks to guys like Kodiak that give you the opportunity to get together with a bunch of like minded (gun enthusiasts) and do something that you enjoy no matter how new or how experienced you are.
Match support is essential for the continuing efforts of people like Kodiak and his club.I've been there having hosted some events and when interest doesn't
seem evident through early registration or at least some feedback,it puts extra pressure on the organizer.
Yes Aug seems like a long way aways but hell it's JUNE already!! and enough time to get your loads worked up or the new gun broke in.
Guess what I wanted to say is get planning and book your slot.New or experienced, doesn't matter.First match...even better,as I'm sure you'll have a fun time.
Support your local matches and you'll always have a regular date to look forward to each year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If only I lived closer .......................

Date is closing in, there is going to be some fun on this day at good old North Star Range. Island.. you and Butter Cup bring those Lapua .338's out so the Donkey can kick you around some more ok. Lets see if I taught you anything on that course. By the way, the "Punk" collected his $5.00 for hitting the V with his first sighter from 800 yards :runaway: , so drag your butt out there and lets see what I taught you. Tell Loretta to get cracking, she's getting better ever day she comes out to shoot:D . I especially like it when she stops you, the "Hubble", and that bad ar*e rifle of yours.

The name of the game is fun, enjoyment and relaxation.

A crappy day at the range is better than any day at the office.

I'm off that weekend and may head out to watch the action. Gotta love the long range stuff. Aside from my work with telephones, even my hobbies encorporate the motto " reach out and touch someone". :D

Only 8 days until the match guys.

If you have a scoped centerfire rifle come out and stretch your legs! Heck, even if it has open sights, come on out! The range does go out with berms to 1200 yds. F Class if basically a supported scoped centerfire rifle, that is it, and your hunting rifle would fit the bill and make the distance, the match only goes out to 1000 yds on Sunday :) Saturday we are only out at 600 yds, shooting at 1/2 moa targets (22" aiming mark - the 300M DCRA target). Even if it is called the Driller's F Class Match, T/R rilfes are welcome too, as would benchrest and blackpowder rifles. Anything small than a 50 cal is allowed, this year...
