1st Annual Shotgun Throwdown and Raisin Run, Crumlin Edition, June 8th 2019

Sometime in April (2019), i will host a single day (Saturday) session at Crumlin to go over Skeet/5-Stand and Trap. I will post a date and time as the event date gets closer.

I'll see if I can get a couple of other members to come out too, they keep saying they want to try it.

Meh...I can shoot 5 Stand/ing on my head, blindfolded, and both legs tied behind my back....
Trap and Skeet are the more difficult sports....always knowing where the birds are coming from, at the same speed....it's very confusing....

For someone with a shotgunner inferiority complex, you talk a big game.

The side betting will be fun.

I'll extend an open offer for 5-stand and skeet mentoring in exchange for action sports. PM me. With respect to wagers I would not advise anyone to bet against me for 5-stand. 7.62 can stand on his head if he wants but doubtful he's ever shot a clean round of 25. I've seen that happen 5 times and 3 of those were me. At skeet can make a decent showing but unlikely to place highest in a competitive field. Cchaddock, its kind of you to offer because I don't shoot trap at all. The other 3 events will need a lot of work also to avoid total humiliation. I really don't have an appropriate gun to compete at all stages but will work on that and should be fun.

I am a relatively new member to Crumlin....didn't realize it was the centre of the Universe when it came to 5 Stand....;):shotgun::shotgun:

Lol, some of the old timers there think the club should be shotgun only.
We had a full on fudd attack the other day, couple of hillbilly propsectors literally spouting liberal BS about handguns and 'assault rifles' "only good for killing people". They of course were shooting their muzzleloaders and just outright cranky. Fun times if you happen to have a stag 10 with you ;)

Nope, you're absolutely right its not the center of the 5-stand universe. I apologize for jumping to the conclusion that we must have shot against each other in London. Perhaps you are a lights-out clays shooter - I won't presume otherwise.

So...was just trying to shore up some of the finer details of this match at the mid week meeting of the minds this evening..

1. There will only be one division....each Shooter can decided for themselves what is the best legal shotgun platform to use for this match.
2. Time plus scoring for all stages....for the uninitiated, if a target is missed, you will be assessed a five second penalty...the Action part of the match will be timed, and have a 120 second par time for the stages. Par times are used to keep the match flowing.
3. It will be a Virginia count match for all stages....I think..still mulling this over, the reasoning for doing this is the equalize the action stages with the Skeet, Trap and 5 Stand stages...still not sure if I like this idea.
4. Working on getting prizes for each stage winner...if anyone knows of a business that would like to donate prizes, we can work on getting exposure for that business.
5. I would like to incorporate some sort of Throwdown shoot off for anyone that wants to do so...
6. As usual....there will be pig of some sort to consume...

Reasonable or unreasonable input is welcome, just make sure you have body armour or thick skin for the belittlement that is most likely to follow.....also, if it's a good idea....you will get an attaboy....but that's it...

I was just informed that an "attaboy" isn't "inclusive" enough....so it will be an "attaperson"?????

Need to get Maestro Fresh Wes to perform at the awards banquet.
He's from Toronto, the pioneer of Canadian hip hop.

Aside from that, Virginia count is lame.
I want to load up my mag tube for every target in the clay sport stages.

Oh, and if a competitor can shoot another person's target before they can, they should be able to earn a 5 point bonus, or the loser gets a 10 second penalty...
Not every target, but if you yell "steal" or "challenge" or something before they call for their target, its fair game.

So, I am kinda getting up there in years, and am trying to understand hip hop....so, if I yell "hip hop" during the stage, and am on my right leg when I yell it, does that mean everyone shooting the stage after me has to shoot the subsequent targets off their left hip???? While hopping????...if so, I like this rule amendment

I also agree that Virginia count sucks....some at the meeting we're trying to push it....so, no Virginia count for the clay portions, but Virginia count for the Action parts...

I also like the calling for the "steal" targets....I think this would be great for the "Throwdown" portion of the after match
