While this all sounds good, there is a little background. This is my 3rd year hunting and until today i have got nothing. Every year i have yet to get a doe tag but that's all i ever saw.

Last year i watched 2 does from 60 yards out walk right up and under my treestand but couldn't do anything.

Finally this year it came together. I was already a bit bitter for not getting a doe tag again so i didn't even bow hunt. I figured there was no point getting them used to me and i would forcus on the muzzle loader season.

Today was opeing day here. Shotgun's, bows and muzzle loaders only. I had my trusty cva wolf .50 with me, topped with a old 2.5 Bushnell scopechief with command post.

I started heading to my stand at 3.45pm As i have to work during the season. I went into my approach. I don't just stroll there but take a few step's then wait, then a few steps then wait. Weather this works or not i heard/saw thats how deer seem to move. After 10 min's or so i slow even more as i am almost to my stand.

I could see movement and some white as i rounded the corner to my spot. Holy crap! I see horn's. I waiting for a sec as i saw his head come up and froze. As his head went back down i backed up to a better shooting spot. The next time his head came up i fired.

He only made it roughly 5 yards after a massive jump and what looked like a backflip.

While this is not monster it is my first ever, and getting it within 15 mins on opening day was awesome. Also the fact i snuk up on him makes me feel pretty good.

3 years hunting and i finally got a deer!

I was out from 4am til 630 pm. I am semi deaf from all the gunshots going off around my blind. I got nothing.

Congrats on the deer.

Congratulations! The memory of that deer will stay with you all your days. You should boil that skull up into a Euro mount, because it is a trophy in the truest sense of the word.

Right on. the first one is always the sweetest. I remember my first deer. That was a few years ago and it still brings a big smile to my face.

First time is always the most memorable. That applies to deer hunting to:D

Big congrats. Hope it is the first of many more.
