Good luck!

Too bad this is a limited season - only Bulls and calves. I recently came back from zone 16 in Northen Quebec - early season and we saw 6 of them (4 cows, 1 calf and 1 bull) but did not harvest any. The calf was so big that we thought it was a cow until it stood by the mother at which time it was too late for a shot. The bull - a big one was seen approx 15 minutes after hunting hours and was let go.

Just be careful when shooting at an apparent calf cause if if is not, and happens to be a cow, you're in big trouble.

What zone are you hunting in ??? I used to hunt zone 12 and 13 but now have moved further North to zone 16 in the Matagami area on the way to James Bay.

Just got back.
No luck, we didn't bag even one. :( :( :(
It was in Zone 11.
One guy in the group had a female permit.
We saw alot of tracks and I had one pass fairly close but he never came out where I could get a clear shot. I heard the antlers as they hit the branches, and I also heard the snorting noise "humph" that they make that was even closer than the antler noise but it was behind me and no sign of him on the trail afterwards.
Ours was not the only group that struck out though, there were plenty that got zip.
Those that succeeded did so mostly at the beginning of the week on the Saturday, including one group that got 2 in the first two hours of the hunt.

Ah well, there is always next year..

T-bolt, did you try calling them at all? I realize your party only had a female tag but the cow may have wandered out for you.
It sure is a rush to be close enough to hear the antlers fighting their way through the brush!

Better luck next time man!
