1st Tactical Shotgun

Beretta 1301, Benelli M2, Mossberg 930

There's a few more options but I prefer to suggest guns without spotty quality that might fail you.

To the prospective buyer: It’s a Gen1 so will need the Aridus bolt shroud. Also, not that it matters I suppose, but it has a fixed cyl barrel and not the removable chokes found on the Gen 2. I’d pass at that price since BNIB Gen 2 ones pop up for the same price now and then.

I agree. The gen 2 is worth holding out for.

OP: I know that, at full retail, it’s $400 over your budget but if you can stretch your budget, you won’t be disappointed. Plus you’ll have a gun that will take you from beginner/intermediate to whatever level you want. The 1301 is a solid platform at a great price. Like the old saying foes, buy once, cry once.

Excellent point made by K, and this is why the 1301T is my first SA/SG.

I can’t argue with that. There have been a few M2’s come across around that price lately as well. Either should serve you well long past your beginner phase.
