I know this has been posted before, but a few years ago. How long does it take in BC from purchase to being able to take home?

I depends on if its your first, it can take a bit longer. I happen to live close to the CFO office so I have been able to get same day transfers by asking nice. I have to say that the people who work in the office there are fantastic to deal with.... I would think though a week or less these days normally

One thing to remember though, just because you get your STATT doesn't mean you can take it to the range, you have to wait for the reg certificate to arrive from Ottawa

If you phoned it in you should get a Transfer Notification in about a week at that point you know your purchase has been approved by the CFO and the gun can be shipped if not a local sale, I had to wait another week for the Registration Certificate to show up and they sent two for some reason.
I have never phoned the CFO so not sure if it would speed things up or not.

You don't have to wait for a transfer notification to come in the mail, after you have phone the CFC to start the transfer you can start calling the day after to see if it's approved. Once approved you can contact your CFO's office and they will email you a copy of the transfer notification and STATT.

I have been waiting since the 10th of oct. I called in and got transferred to the cfo's office (ont). After waiting the standard 30 mins on hold I spoke to a very helpful young woman who told me it was still awaiting approval because the person who authorizes it had been on leave. She told me I should have it very soon though because said person is back. Hope this helps.

In BC they may send you a letter with a collectors application form and ask you to choose to obtain collectors status OR asking for proof of club membership before issuing a long term ATT. They weren't approving the first restricted transfer unless one of those were already in place. Waiting for that letter can add a week or more to the normal transfer approval time frame. Best to get ahead of it and call to see if they have all the info to process your transfer. I don't know how long the current wait times are averaging.

If things are taking too long you may want to talk to the cfo. If it is your first transfer and they don't have a copy of your gun club membership there may be a delay.

I'm in BC & I just bought my first pistol recently, I bought it on a Wednesday and the CFO emailed me the transfer notice and statt on Thursday. Friday morning I picked up the pistol and brought it home, two weeks to the day that I bought it I received the registration in the mail. I already had my club membership and ltatt in hand prior to purchase, I think that had a hand in how fast the whole process went. That and I was polite as hell when I called the CFO with the reference number asking for an email of the statt.

Took about 3 weeks for my first restricted firearm to be approved, because they wanted proof of membership and gun club/range. Second restricted firearm took 1 week to get approved.
