1st time reload for 45-70 Marlin 1895GBL

I loaded mine with barns bone busters as hot as I could and regretted it. Never did find any rhinos...

I loaded mine to the manuals max load with 425gr. hard cast gas check bullets. Recoil was so vicious it made my nose bleed every time I shot it, and I was frankly expecting the stock to break. I'm serious. Simply too hot of a load and too heavy of a bullet for such a light rifle. I still have about 100 factory made 425gr. gas check bullets for sale cheap if anyone wants them.

I like the RCBS 45-405-RFbsized to .460" with Gator checks and "Speed Green" lube, over 51.0gr of varget. Remington and Starline cases with Dominion primers. My Magnetospeed shows an average of about 1675fps with fantastic accuracy. Recoil's quite manageable in the little GBL as well. I'm almost out of those bullets, need to order a new mold from NOE soon as I sold my single cavity RCBS in favor of a 4 cavity but never got around to ordering one.

I kinda like this one from NOE:
460-405-RF 4 cavity 2GC 2PB

Might have to order one this summer.
Yeah that's the NOE version of the RCBS 45-505-RF I mentioned above. Wish they had stock. If they don't do another run soon I will order the Ranch Dog 460-425-RF instead. Just a little heavier. I have a 360 gr Ranch Dog version and it works well too. Also have a Mihec "460 Hammer" that iirc is around 360 gr as well. It's a scaled up version of the Lee C452-300-RF. Maybe it's around 340 gr. Can't quite remember.
