So today I took the P53 Enfield smoothbore, the one I screwed up drilling the vent out, to the range. Cautiously worked it up to 60gr with a patched ball. Did not feel like proofing it at twice that. It worked perfectly, no FTF or anything. Accuracy will be for the next time, but it shoots pretty high. Also loaded it with 71/2 bird shot with 50gr of Pyrodex. At 20 yds it patterned very well. Also learned to keep my hand further up the stock and away from the musket caps.
Anyhow I'll try different loads, I'm happy with it. Big difference between shooting this and my rifled Lyman.
