I purchased one of the little M95/34 Carbines a few months ago from Tradex. The rifle I received was in very good condition with a nice looking bore. Bore slugged .329 (from what I've read most are larger). Off to a good start. I ordered a LEE mould and .329 sizer kit. Fired up my Lee 10 lb pot and cast a few bullets when the old Lee pot "gave up the ghost". I wasn't too sad as it had cast many thousand bullets but leaked badly from the day I got it! The few bullets I was able to cast measured .332. Once again I lucked out as I understand most of these moulds tend to cast right around .329. Having had much success with cast bullets 1 or 2 thou over bore size I opened the sizer die to size the few bullets I had to .3305.
Loaded up 30rds today with 16.0 to 18.0 grs of 2400. It was late afternoon and light was starting to fade by the time I arrived at range. Moderate hard snow as well. Not the best conditions but I needed to know how the thing might shoot. With time being limited and having no idea where it might hit I gave it a go at 25 yds from sitting position but no rests. There was some gas blowback at 16.0 grs and cases were blackened. By 18.0 grs very little blowback and cases cleaner. Last group had 3 touching and the other 2 about a half inch away. Also centered nicely about an inch above the point of aim without any site ajustments. I think I have a winner
I also have 300 of the correct diameter jacketed bullets which I will probably try. Got enough cases to last for awhile. Going to replace the Lee 10 pounder with a new 20. All in all a good day.
