are there any scopes that are low power and have a BDC for 308? i really like the MTAC, but it has a 556 BDC, the only other one i found is the Elcan, but $2500+ is alittle much for me.

trijicon is nice, but at the upper end of my budget.

sub $700 is my target, no pun intended.

Leupold mk 4, 1-5x. You can have korth engrave you a custom dial for whatever BDC you want for about $75.

I just happen to be selling one on the EE :)

What about the Vortex 1-4 with the TMCQ in milrads? I have one that I switch between a couple of rifles. It's got an illuminated centre dot and red donut which is nice too.

Out to the effective range of a low powered scope, using a 200m/yd battle zero and knowing your come-ups in mils is easy, either by trial & error or with a chronograph. They make one in MOA as well.

I'd forget the BDC. The BDC never quite worked properly when it was introduced, long ago. Stick with the low magnification though. I believe Burris still makes a compact with low magnification.

I'm looking at the Viper 1-4. I really like the exposed turrets with zero lock. Its pretty hard to beat the warranty. I'm trying to decide between MOA or Mils.

Am I the only one who way prefers mils over MOA?

No.

But to answer your question I would not go with BDC but stick with a mil or moa reticle. Also get a quality mount and go with a better scope than you think you need. You can always use it on more than one gun, so take the cost you would use to buy scopes for two of your guns and get one way better quality scope and use it on both.

I would also suggest the vortex line, I am running a PST 2.5-10 X 44 on my m14

I've got the PST 1-4 on an AR, in MOA. Would have preferred the MRAD but it was out of stock and I had money burning a hole in my pocket. So far I love it. It feels like a tank, and with their warranty I'd have no hesitation to put it on an M14.
Happy shopping!
