I have 2 bare metal spots in my receiver on my 870, rest of the gun is parker/tef coated would you guys bother touching up the spots with some blueing compound i could buy at my local store? Or just not worry about it and just keep that spot oiled. The size of one spot is 1/2" by 3/8" and the other is about the same.

Yeah, what Dsiwy said.

I have some bare spots in mine too but it's no big deal, just keep the gun oiled, 870's tend to be a bit rough around the edges as far as finish goes anyways.

this gun was park/tef coated by casey at tac ord, just there was 2 little surface rust spots that didn't come out until i cleaned it down to the bare metal. Not sure how the rust spots got there after that treatment.

I had a small rust spot on my Express Magnum that developed, I assume, due to lack of oiling when it sit in the safe for months at a time. The rust spot never grew, but wouldn't come off either. I learned to live with it.
Did you parkerize or teflon coat it yourself, or is it the bead-blasted bluing that comes from the factory (assuming it's an express?).
You could always have it re-finished in Arma-Coat or just oil it and call it a day. :)

It was done by tactical ordance, the outside is perfect so ill just live with it till its so beat up it needs a armacoat job. Was just curious if the bare metal woyld be a issue thanks

Most of the newer 870's have a garbage finish that rusts easily! Don't be surprised if it does rust on you...good thing they are one of the best functioning shotty's!

I think if you oil it, you're good to go.
smiley1, the finish on my 870 Police (parkerized) and on Wingmasters (even new ones) has been quite good actually, it's the Express that has the less stellar finish and gives the 870 its reputation.
