2 dot night sights: Warren Tactical or XS Big Dot

Hi there,

Anyone have experience with either or both? What would you recommend? I'm starting to really dislike the stock sights on my M&P 9...I find the rear dots pretty big and distracting. My intended use is not for precise target shooting but for self defense...COM or zombie head shots out to 25m (I wish) haha. Some have suggested just blacking out (sharpie) the rear white dots but the thought of investing in some good night sights makes sense too.

Alternatively, I've also heard some good things about the Bowie Tactical/Ameriglo Operator 3 dot set.

Any info greatly appreciated.

I ordered a set of XS express sights for my Hi Power, love em, very fast. At longer ranges and for precise shot placement they take a bit more time then post and notch, but inside 15 yards they are the fastest sight i have ever used. Ordered them from brownells.

Do you think there would be an improvement/difference in accuracy if one went with the smaller dot XS sight?
 
This is not advice but just a quick statement of my own experiences:

I went to a 2-dot system about a month ago. It was INSANELY fast to acquire. I really could not believe how fast I locked on to the sights.

HOWEVER, and this could well be just me, because lots of guys better than me don't have this problem, but I do: I found my accuracy was substantially worse. For whatever reason I just couldn't seem to get my brain to have the same automatic "the dots are good, ####ing shoot them!" response it does with 3-dots, or the "everything is right here, punch a hole in it!" response I get with a blank rear.

I am 99% sure this is a problem with my software, not the sights. But if others are running similar outdated software they may experience similar driver issues.

I deleted the rear dot and slowed down a little, but did improve my accuracy. Except on the headshot portion of last week's FAST drill...I have no explanation for that appalling failure.

probably. The large dot is crazy fast to pick up. It is tricky to accuratley line up into the v trough though, the small dot would be easiere. The sight is designed for close fast work, so it's a trade off

Haha awesome post and info. That is really interesting. Now I'm really curious as to the software I'm running. I need to try a 2 dot setup.
