Had an idea of holding 2-gun challenge with non-restricted rifles and shotguns, ie: ar-180b, cz-858, norinco m-14, xcr, sks ext.... maybe see if the local gun shops would pitch in for prize's as well as have an entry fee which would go towards a money prize at the end. has anyone ever done one or interested in doing one. thanks Mark

The liability issues of holding an event like that "in the bush" will keep shops from wanting to have their name associated with it. I live in kelowna, me and a few buddies do some fun gunning with shotties/sks/m14's ect, next time your heading out shoot me a PM.

Heading up to oceola tomorrow or saturday to try my new 1911. We go out postil a bit but theres so much trash and ####, we try and clean up but its pointless. Not really into people assuming its us leaving the mess. Are you a member of KFGC or Oceola?

yes the trash at postill is bs. that impromtu range was not even there till last spring

but on the other hand i may be interested in participating if you get somthing together.

keep us posted

i just got my restrited so before i never went to the range. But i'll probablly join oceola, they've got another gated range up beaver lake road that members can use. what do think of the oceola club?

well I'm going to round up as many people from around kelowna, winfield area and will do a little mini comp. I want to do moving drills with mag changes. Do u guys wear chest rigs or some kind of tac-vest.

This will be my first time at oceola. Im a member of KFGC but havnt got a chance to go up and get my swipe card yet. A few of the guys ive been shooting with go to oceola so I figured id support the club and join up. With the sks I use an ammo pouch with stripper clips, rubber bands separating the 5 rounds. I usually use my shotguns, shell belt, and a side saddle on my maverick. Just picked up an old 870, threw an elastic shell holder on the stock for now.

It wouldnt take much to organize a good sized group to do a local fun shoot. Ive got 4 or 5 guys who would be into it for sure. Not many dudes rocking vests for the non-res, youll see a lot of SKS and shotguns (A good thing) . Good group of guys (KentB from the site being one of them)

Moving with re-loads sounds fun, maybe start with a couple long distance shots. Id be willing to lend my VTR to anybody who doesnt have a scoped centerfire. They can bring all the .308 ammo they can handle. Can think of another guy whod do the same with his rig. Where were you thinking of throwing this shindig?

there's this sweet spot in between beaver and dee lake. lot of rolling slopes. the kinda course I wanna run is more CQB style. shots within 75 yrds. but we could definitly set up some long targets. Is your VTR the triangle barrel & green stock. Ive got two buddy's that run cz-858's , and I got the 180b. I'm hopefully gonna have a mossberg 500 tactical at the end of the month. Del has some coming in. Maybe we should plan for one of the coming weekends for a fun n gun.

On Crown Land??

Sounds a little sketchy.....

Unlike a range, which has backstop/berms and controlled access, public land is open to all users and folks are free to wander anywhere they please...

Be super careful if you do this...I don't want to see you on the news :)

Aren't the CZ-58's Restricted?

No. CZ 858's are a 100 % NR. As for the VZ 58's some a NR and some a restricted, due to barrel length. IIRC, the VZ 58L is the non restricted version, complete with a chrome lined bore.

If this event took place closer to home, i'd be all over it.

your not thinking of the sand pit are you? there are an awful lot of motorsports enthusiasts that frequent that area and i belive that spot is used my sledders as a staging area this time of year

a better spot would probably be off a spur rd and not right on the main fsr
imo

if thats not where you were thinking disregard what i said

I never been to Oceola but I am a member of KDFGC. Its a pretty good club I think although expensive to join.
Where is Oceola???

No worrys... most of the bush here has better backstop's, better controlled access and is far enough away from starschmucks nobody dares venture out there... but yeah oceola would be the rite choice if we can bring restricted's.

whats up mark! i was shooting with you with my 858 on boxing day. i'm down for the two gun! let me know when you sort it out or if you need any help organizing.:ar15:
