I purchased a + 2 magazine extension for my Remington 870 Express recently, and tried it out at the range the other day.
Fit and finish is excellent, maybe the finish is not extremely highly polished, but the thread fit, and machining tolerances are of excellent quality.
The only (very minor) problem I had was in getting the threads started. I ended up putting a chamfer on the existing Remington magazine end cap so the threads would start properly, and the same went for the 'threaded connector' part.
Another important part of the installation process is keeping in mind is that these threads are not a: "running fit" like you would see on threaded rod at the hardware store. The threads are a wringing to slight interference fit, and square profiled. This means they have to be started carefully, hence the chamfer on the holes and corresponding male ends . These chamfers were made with a Dremel rotary tool and a needle file. It does not take much, just a slight uniform chamfer on the female part, a chamfer on the mating male part, and pay special attention to the 'starting thread', which should be free from burrs that may interfere with it starting smoothly.
In order to bring the threaded connector up tight with the barrel support, I used slip joint pliers. The jaws were padded with a common piece of aluminum roof flashing. The straight knurl on the connector was thereby undamaged.
I had to catch the barrel and magazine tube carefully in the jaws of a woodworking vise, as quite a bit of torque had to be applied to the pliers to get it to come up tight (it has to be that way). Some G 96 helped lubricate the threads.

Magazine extension or not, this shotgun cycles very smoothly as I did a job on the action bars a while back. 7 X 2-3/4" 12 gauge shells will fit in the magazine, they can be fired smoothly with not a hitch!
Best regards, Tony
Edit: NO POLYMERS! I am waiting to get a Tacstar barrel clamp from Lyman Gunsite Co. It seems that the only barrel clamps available from Canadian vendors are high $ tacticool ones or plasti-crap.
