Is the stock screw supposed to be hard to remove? I broke a flat head screwdriver trying to unscrew it. I'm afraid that if I try something tougher, I might twist the screw head off or damage the threads. Any idea?

I would like to get a +1 magazine extension. Does anyone sell them in Canada? I've seen it on Dlask, but it has a little "unhappy face" on it which I do not want.

The screws on mine come out nicely, no issues

The +1 extensions are VERY expensive, epps has them. Was a while ago but I think it was around $40, I passed.

Forget the plus one and work on reloading faster.. :D

The screw shouldn't be that hard to come out. If you take the shotguns receiver completely apart I "think" you can see the other end of that screw. (or maybe that was another shotgun ) Maybe try shooting some liquid wrench or something in there and let it set a while then try to get it out.

When I removed mine for the first time it was VERY hard to remove. I had to clamp it and use vice grips on a long screwdriver for extra leverage.

Again, when I replaced the stock and installed the new screw that came with it, it was very hard to screw in also.

Now it works perfectly. The threading was just poorly done in my case. Possibly due to an overused/undersized tap?

Either way, lube it well, let the lube work, remove it, lube it again, re-screw again all the way (deeper than it was if you can), and remove it once more. Mine's perfect now after doing that.

Mine was hard to remove the first time as well. Same with my Remington shotguns. The Vang-comp +1 should work on your HP-9. It worked fine on mine. You're going to have to drill out the dimples in the mag tube.

It was mostly for cosmetic reasons. I just like it when the barrel and magazine are flush.

As for the screwdriver, it was a fuller. Probably low quality.

The stock bolt should come out easy. Keep trying with a bigger screwdriver!

The dlask +1 doesn't have a frowny face. That's just a magazine cap. +1 can be found at most sponsors. Scattergun technologies is the best IMHO.

Are you sure about that?

50/50 chance that any +1 you buy will not fit, theads are not deep enought.

I have heard and seen similar issues. Just to clarify, you are saying that the +1 extension's inner thread is not deep enough to properly seat and lock down the barrel?

One less than ideal solution I found was using a sling plate as a washer and it seemed to work out alright. Obviously this would be redundant on an extension that already has a sling plate attached, but nevertheless...

My HP9 has barely any thread sticking out through the barrel retaining ring, only 3-4 threads showing. Are the Dlasks threaded all the way to the end or is the sling loop a seperate part? I fit was threaded to the end I could probably use one but not if it had a seperate sling plate.

Can someone shed more light on the HP9 and +1 magazine extension issue?

Is the problem on the HP9's magazine tube or on the extensions? If it's the latter, which ones fit better?

How about the Vang Comp?

On mine it is the mag tube. Only a couple of threads showing with the barrel seated properly. I'm worried that an extension that has a sling loop will not be threaded all the way out and as such will not hold well enough on the minimal threading on the mag tube. It looks like the mag tube is about 1/4-3/8" shorter than it should be. I was going to order and try a Dlask but was informed today that they are out of stock and won't be making any for a while:(. I don't know who makes one without a sling loop and I don't know who has any of any brand in stock right now except TacOrd and he wants $85 for a +1 and that is just too much $ IMHO.

The sling plate on the vang comp is in front of the thread unlike Dlask model, so the cap should tighten like the one that came with the HP9 no?
