I have 2 of these things that I have been plugging away on, first one purchased off of a fellow board member here on CGN last spring that probably has about 1500-2500 rounds through it give or take, and another Marstar 2013 Import.

The Good, The Bad and the Ugly!
2011 (Purchases off of CGN EE.
Had about 1000-1500 rounds through it give or take and had been through a \Hungry clinic when I purchased it, it had an M14.ca scope mount and a cheaper Vortex 2x7 scope. The fellow I got it from had Mic'd the brass at .1638 and came in a camo painted Norc poly stock with a matching camo hand-guard and Bipod. The finish of the rifle was typical Norc and had a fairly decent trigger group (I have since replaced the trigger, trigger spring, and the pins with USGI from treeline after a Hungry Hockey game poor-mans trigger tuning) I replaced the Norc stock with a M14 USGI Woodstock from Ellwood Epps and added a USGI hand-guard. Re affixed the Op-rod guide by peening and loctite (had previously been affixed with JB weld). It then went through a second tactical teacher clinic last summer and everything checked out great, brass is still mic'd at .1638 and head-space has not grown! It has a Sadlak match op-rod spring and spring guide, and the 180 fix tightened the gas assembly right up. best 5 shot groups at 100 yards with factory rolled ammo is about 1-1.5 MOA with 1.5-2.5 MOA about the norm. Only thing left to do is Barrel and Bolt swap and a USGI gas assembly which may be in the cards down the road.
2013 Marstar import
Received the Rifle last fall in October, and pulled it apart and cleaned all the oil out of it. re greased it and put it all back together and test fired it. Sights worked pretty good, had a slight cant to the right of the front sight, Parkerizing was excellent and trigger was great as well. When I pulled it apart for the cleaning I checked out the gas system and it tightened up at 3 o'clock and needed to be malleted down to lock up at 6 o'clock. When I took it out to the range it shot WICKED! sights loosened up but was capable of 2-4" groups with the Norc ammo of the bench and a front bag. I figured this one would be worth doin some work on. I have swapped out the spring and spring guide for a match guide and spring, flash-hider has been replaced by a USGI, as has the front sight. Rear sight is a PB NOS from treeline and the trigger, springs and pins have been replaced with USGI. plastic poly stock has been removed and replaced with a fiberglass stock and hand-guard (that is awaiting warmer weather from some fresh Krylon). It is eagerly awaiting as am I the warmup of the Saskatchewan weather so I can test out the upgrades. This rifle PINGGGGGGSSSSSS like CRAZY and I am anticipating a great shooting rifle. Now only time will tell! Hope to have a further report on Sunday, still have to sight in the new sights
the cold winter has not been kind, I have been fighting myself from buying an M1a Loaded and/or possible a Blackfeather or Sage Chassis. alas so far I have been able to resist, or was too slow on the trigger as I was last weekend when I waited too long for a JRA M14. What started with the Russian red's, let to the M14 clones and had now led to a very expensive but rewarding pastime. Seeing a rifle get better with the work you put into it is amazingly fulfilling and fun! Thanks for all the help everyone!!
