This. I did this a few years ago. 2 main hunting rifles. Both Tikka's. Same ergonomics. Same trigger pull. One (Battue in 30-06) set up for close to medium range and another (Stainless in 7mm RM) set up for medium to longer range. Both have the same type of aftermarket stocks and trigger upgrades. They're very similar and I can shoot them both about equally well. Not regretting doing this at all but it's made it a challenge to add more hunting rifles to my collection because I just don't need them. :yingyang:
 
Keep the mag if you plan on travel hunting. In Ontario, you don't need a magnum for anything. Realistically, you might get 3 or 4 moose tags here in your lifetime.
 
I'd keep the .308 Grey wolf. I had one, and It's one of the few rifles I sold that I often regret selling. My brother in law is happy with it though! Everything about it worked so well, and it's a well mannered, capable cartridge. I still have three other .308 rifles and would never be without one. I've shot a bunch of elk and a few moose with my .308s, and the cartridge does the job efficiently without a lot of fuss, boom, or kick. It is easy to shoot accurately. Ammunition is plentiful and cheap. Just keep the range to sensible "Hunting" not "sniping" distance and all will be good.
I don't particularly like the .243 and sold my last one a while ago. "too big for the small stuff and too small for the big stuff" But that's because I have more suitable varmint rifles, and better deer rifles. Since you are in Ontario, a .243 makes some sense to cover the varmint-deer spectrum.
Your 7mm Magnum is a wonderful cartridge, but is redundant. And you already have an identical rifle, so nothing more to learn or experience there either.
 
thanks everyone, Lots of great comments, like I said its theoretical.

I don't need to and probably wont sell any of the three, but they all seem to be closely related, enough so that its difficult to choose when going hunting, (let alone the fact that I haven't mention I also have a marlin 336 SS). I've always wanted a Sako, so its the one that pulls at me the most but its also the one that I baby the most, the Tikkas i feel are precision tools which I'm less careful with.

7 RM w/150 Partition @ 3100 fps, MPBR = 370 yards, @ 400 yards; -8.4" & 2284 ft/lb.

308 w/150 Partition @ 2900 fps, MPBR = 340 yards, @ 400 yards; -13.4" & 1993 ft/lb
 
OP - Glad that you have overcome this temporary moment of insanity. As therapy, I suggest you go out and buy another rifle immediately, and an advance gift for the wife.;)
 
You should do what suits you best, but as far as I can see practical advantages, all three of those rifles should be good rifles, so I'm using what they are chambered for as the main reason: the .243Win and 7mmRemMag give you a wider range of application than the either with the .308Win so the latter should go.

(But if were my problem I'd solve it by getting rid of both Tikkas because I don't like stainless steel guns and I'd sell the Sako because it's market value is more money than I want tied up in hunting rifle.)
