2 problems with 870 tactical

I have had the exact same problems with my 870 tactical. A month after taking it to the range for the first time, I was horrified to find a dusting of rust speckles on the bottom of the magazine tube, as well as very light sign on the top of the barrel. A thorough rubdown with oil, leaving a sheen on the trouble areas, followed a week later with another thorough rubdown seems to have defeated the problem. No sign of emerging rust since then, but i am careful to keep the shotgun in a sock and lightly oiled. The finish on the metal surfaces is rougher than standard and likely holds more moisture than a silky smooth surface. Looks cool though.

Th extraction issue occurs when the action isn't worked hard enough; I can cycle it open with some force. It seems whenever someone tries the gun it occurs as they don't attack the slide with vigour. If I had the time i'd tune it up to avoid the problem....might just buy a Mossberg 500 instead.

I do love the 870 action though....use one for hunting and have never had rust or extraction issues.
