I hadn't had any luck in 30 odd rounds with the Speer GRAND SLAM projectile.

But this 2 shot group indicated what it DOESNT like.
(Glad I didn't waste any more projies 😆😂)

Same Box - 145gr
same powder - Varget

This time I kept more attention to the Seating depths- and only altered those for this test.

I'm happy with this as a Point to re test from.

2.800 coal. 71mm.. cannelure is at 2.730
41gr

Loaded 5 to take hunting this weekend as I wanna see performance!!

But room for improvement perhaps....

1.5 inch V .75 inch or so.

Let us know if it's repeatable. I shot a .17moa 3 shot group last month with a 338wm that usually shoots 1.5moa +/-
100% that's what I'll focus on after this hunting trip next week.

I'll use the Interlock 154s primarily but if doing any thick bush stalking I'll slip a GS in.

All the shooting with the 6-47 has helped across the board.... But dang, the 7-08s kick eh 😂

WhelanL, Speer bullets are old cup and core tech, and if you can get your rifle to shoot consistently into 1.5 moa or less at 100yds, that's about average for most rifles.

The Speer Grand Slam bullet has a heavy jacket and is a great penetrator.

One thing I find with the Speer bullets I shoot is they like to be seated as close to the leade as possible.

My present 7-08 is built on a Remington 700 LA, so I have lots of room in the magwell to utilize.

I'm willing to bet your chamber has quite a long throat?

There is no reason to seat the bullet so the neck mouth is on the cannelur, unless you're crimping.

I run some very hot loads in my rifle, and I've never had any issues with bullets setting back or consistent velocities, even though the cannelure is well out from the case neck mouth.

I use 40 grains of Varget for my loads, over CCI 250 primers, with the bullets seated .025 off the leade.

Theres No proof of anything there ! The next 2 of each seating depth could be the opposite of what you shot ,
2 shots at each depth Proved NOTHING . 🤷‍♂️

looking hopefull!!!

Todd, So far I was almost getting "excited" about them but my gossshhhh.....
If you take out the Flyers...it's a nice group 😂

But No, A majority land as above , slightly off to the Right....
But then one will go AWOL, couple more in the zone then Another AWOL.

So, I'm going to use it as a Bush load, bush stalking , under 200m........
I loaded >12 an shot a couple confirming.... Havnt many left loaded and won't FK around with the other Box of 50 I have...they can just go to the bottom of the Safe..

Hornady interlock on the other hand... Can't complain.
