I'll be out again next weekend

Oh and I wacked a yearling white tail, just a little tasty treat, incidental target of oppertunity. :D

Are you using a caller?

I'm up in 510 with a bull draw, I have good reports of where 3 bulls are hanging out in the swamps but its too thick to go in after them.

It should be cold enough this weekend for them to get moving again. Its just fustrating seeing moose after moose but no antlers. And yes luck is the most important part.

Deer were starting to move last weekend and saw 2 nice bucks 3x3 and 4x4 and one little 3x1 buck, but none were really huge racks, I may get fustrated enough moose hunting to wack me another deer or 2 :D

For 2011, we got a bull and a cow sharing among 25 hunters. Filled the freezer and gave the excess meat to friends.

We have been very lucky as the success rate at our camp is almost 100% yearly.

I shared one with 4 other hunters 5 years ago and Im wondering where it all went ?

I get between 30 to 50lb each moose every year. That is good enough for my family comsumption.

I have friends that like moose meat so that is where the other 40 lb went. :)

well I have a little up date

This weekend the weather was fantastic for hunting.

So I went out for the last weekend of season, Sat I saw a cow and calf and a little later a cow.

Sunday I was out cruising down a cutline and found some nice fresh tracks where a moose was browsing along the line. not very big but I decided to check it out.

So after about 5 min tracking I found a large dark spot in the trees, took me a little while to see that it had antlers as its ears were as large as the antlers. So a little more working around to find a big enough gap in the trees to get a shot at something vital. And 300WM 200grn Accubond did the rest.

then work work work, good thing it was such a small bull, easy to gut when they are smaller. I ended up cutting a few trees and dragging the bugger about 200m to the nearest cutline.

So I got moose hanging in the shed. :D

My group is 7 years without moose...usually see one we dont have tags for. Fewer guys going each year as it gets treated more like a vacation by the "Alpha" of the group, getting a group of friends to get licences and find somewhere else to go as the area is now under Native land claim and well...no moose.
