2 weeks to Goose opener! Counting the hours!!

I am in NE sask and just drove over 800 kms in two days
And seen about 20 canadas

The wheat and pea fields are few and far between around here as canola
Is the main crop. So when the geese hit a field there is going to be loads

Goose opener finally arrived! Man did it ever feel great to be out on the lake with gun in hand and calls at the mouth. I made out fairly well....one shy of the limit. Still a long way to go to catch up to Hoyt!!

Good job... our duck opener was the 10th... four greenheads and two woodies opening morning... heading out for more ducks Saturday and then geese again on Monday... AND moose/grouse/walleye on the 21st! Pretty jacked for the Northern trip... our springers are coming this year.

Sounds awesome! As for ducks, we have to wait until the 26th for the opener. Based on the volumes of ducks I saw yesterday, it should be a great opener! I cant remember the last time i saw the kind of numbers i saw flying at first light yesterday morning! Any one hunter with a half decent shot could have easily hit a duck limit on teal, woodies or mallards within the first half hour of shooting. It was pretty incredible! As for geese, I only had 4 come in...luckily none of them were able to leave. But i didnt see many groups flying at all, so I guess I was blessed to have hit the 4 I got.

Planned to finally hunt this weekend but work had other plans. It suddenly got real busy locally and we have most of our people on a 62 day refinery turnaround in Regina so I have been asked to work through my days off as we are short of staff. Oh well....

That blows... perhaps it will help to picture me and the pooch sitting in a clump of pines on a rock outcrop over looking a flooded beaver pond that is part of a string of ponds... that is where we will be when the sun rises in the morning... watching through binoculars, this morning, we spotted ten or so flocks of mallards, a few groups of woodies and a couple bunches of geese using the area. We shall see what the morning brings...

Went out yesterday morning with two buddies got 23 by 9am non-banded and we missed a lot due to heavy fog otherwise we should have our limit (10 each).
