Thought i'd show you what i've done with all the winchester parts i've been buying here. The lower one is my skeet gun, when everyone else is reloading I usually still have 7 more to go.I love the blonde wood. The middle is just my ol' defender safe queen. The top is my camp kicker, has a folder stock and low capacity now but just yesterday bought a 2 shot extension and a telescoping stock as well as the missing pump handle. Just blued the barrel myself today, came out great. You can't beat that smooth speed pump slide winchesters have IMO.

Are you shooting regulation skeet at a club? Typically more than two shells in the gun isn't permitted for safety reasons and the guns must be empty and open when moving between stations.

I'm starting to enjoy Winchester shotguns as well. I now have three 2400's (one is a European 1500 XTR but it's pretty much the same). The only gripe I have about them is the plastic bolt release on one of them. Not the best design idea. It works, but it's not as nice as a metal button.

I did the same thing with the huge extension with an 870 Super Mag. I couldn't stand the weight. It just didn't feel right with 10 rounds of birdshot in it. That and I dislike 870's..... I had to sell it.

Looks good. Personally I'm not a big fan of winchester pumps. They are the only pump gun that ever binded on me. I did kill my first bird with one tho.

Yeah im going to go with claybuster on this one. The mag extension wasnt a great idea for the skeet gun. My club doesnt allow you to have more than 2 rounds in a gun at a time and personally, it just doesnt look good on a gun meant for clays.

I really like the middle defender though. That would be an idea camp gun.

Those look nice! I love the Winchesters, despite what people say about them. Fast and smooth. I think the binding issues most people have are not knowing how to properly handle the assisted pumping. I've got a 1300 stainless marine defender, a 1300 turkey, and a "franken" defender (stainless marine reciever, defender barrel and mag, assorted 1300 and ranger 120 parts to fill the other gaps). I'd post pictures but I don't want to jack your thread.

The 'binding' issue may have been the case with the old Model 12, but I think it's next to impossible for the rotary-lockup pumps to bind.

Please post, i'd like to see them for sure.

Winchester 1300 Turkey. 21" VR winchoke barrel. I have a defender style wooden stock to refinish and install on it sometime.

Winchester 1300 Stainless Marine Defender, factory pistol grip model. This was my first gun. I even have the receipt from 1990 when my uncle bought it new at a local convenience store. :)

Franken-defender. The receiver is from another 1300 Stainless Marine I bought for parts. The stocks, magazine tube and barrel are from an older defender. The rest is from a Ranger 120 I think. It's kind of rough looking, but I like that about it. If you've ever heard the automotive term "Rat Rod", this is the firearms equivalent.

So what are you shooting when you use the term "skeet?"

Skeet is a specific clay target activity although it and the term "trap" are sometimes used to describe informal clay target shooting. Using the term "skeet" would be like me describing plinking with my handgun at the range as IPSC.

I would like to put together a Defender with wood stocks. I had my 1300 set up as a "Turkeyslayer" for a while, now I have it set up for waterfowl and deer, I would still like to find a 18.5 inch barrel with a bead threaded for chokes to make another turkey gun.

Sorry, Trap. If thats what you can call flinging clay rounds form a Can tire clay flinger starpped to an old 35" tire/ rim combo in a clearcut.

I have a nice set of wood from a recent purchase. It's "full wood" meaning that the pump handle is of the longer variety. If your looking...

Where did the 21" barrel with the choke system come from? Did it come with a factory shotgun or did you buy it aftermarket? I really want, ney NEED one of those.

The 21" barrel came stock on the 1300 Turkey.

OH THE HUMANITY!

Don't worry Accurate, that's what we call it too. I guess that I will have to inform my buddies that what we are doing is actually "informal recreational clay target shooting". I'm sure the term will catch on lol.

The OP said he put a magazine extension on his 1300 to shoot "skeet." My point was to prevent the OP from having an embarassing moment in the event he showed up at a skeet club and started stuffing his gun with 7 shells. On a skeet range he would immediately informed that two was the maximum.

In a clearcut with a crappy tire thrower load as many as you like.

Ya, i've shot "skeet" at my local range before. They make you aware of how many rounds you may have loaded in the mag. P.S. my "skeet gun" or "claybuster" holds 10 2 3/4". I said i'd have seven left after my other friends with shotguns only holding 2 or 3 were busy reloading. It's just for fun, nothing serious.

Each to his own I suppose, but IMO, no real clays gun hold 10 rounds or anything close to that. Keep the tacticool stuff away from traditional shooting sports.
