20 GA Grouse Gun

Not sure why you can’t find what your looking I had a very nice skb 100 on Ee for weeks at 1000$ shipped nobody jumped on it finely someone did and it’s back onEe for a lot more money than what I wanted also there were a couple of 20 ga Rem LT they didn’t last long and always standard jap model 12’s from 600$1000 you just have to pull the trigger when you see them most of the time they sell quickly
There is a Benelli 20ga Montefeltro on Ee as we speak for 1200 obo with chokes very nice handling gun . In fact out of all mentioned that would be my first pic likely weighs just over 5 lbs

Thanks, I check EE, ####### and townpost 3-6 times daily, but it doesn’t help if you don’t know what you’re looking for. I’ve been steadily looking for an 870 Wingmaster in 20 GA and haven’t seen any come up in the past 4 months. Maybe they come wind go in the 4 hours between me checking. I figured I’d should consider broadening the search which is why I asked for recommendations.

You have taken my post out of context was intended to show a third shot is not a usual thing in most situations. In most of my 76 years I used a solid rib Browning superlight 20 Have a great day.

If I misunderstood the point of the comment, I apologize.

Rod, those are some seriously pretty guns.
Very fortunate to have those in your safety ;)
To the OP, place a wtb in the EE for your grouse gun...
Check out that gun dealer in New Brunswick they usually have many to choose from , even an occasional M12 High Grade or the 870 LW Remington.
You know lotro, your in a unique position tight now, you are actually hunting .... hunting for the right firearm to pursue your game of choice with.
That in itself is as much fun and a challenge as chasing those pesky grouse ;)
Good Hunting.

The only time I select a 12 gauge is when exploring new hunting grounds while alone.
Or when the rural nieghbours where I small game hunt confessed to wounding a big black bear that hung around for a few tense days.

Even though I'm kind of lusting for a 20G SxS (vintage gun, with nice wood and plenty of engraving, please)... All my hunting is done with a 12G. My reasoning been 1) What else would I use them for? 2) At the rate I'm using them, they'll get passed down with still way too much ammo...

If someone wanted to dip its toe in the SxS world for not much $... Tradeex has quite a few offering for not much $

My first favorite grouse gun is a 1940's Winchester M12, Skeet, 20 ga , Solid Rib, WS-1 choke. .

My second choice is a 1930's Winchester M12, 16 ga, Modified, Solid Rib.

Here's my 1940's 20 ga. M12 Skeet WS-1, Solid Rib.

Very nice!

One thing I never tire of, and Rod's very fine M12 shotgun reminds all of us that Winchester once upon a time, chose the nicest/richest furniture for many of thier long guns.

This confession is coming from a confirmed Ithaca shotgun nut.

A few years ago I bought a Benelli Montefeltro in 20 gauge for grouse hunting and absolutely love it. The weight is just a hair over 5 lbs. Very light to carry, super reliable, and hits where it’s pointed. I know it’s a little more than $1000 but we’ll worth the money IMO and no regrets. Would not hesitate to buy a second one.

If you're really looking for that third shot, I'd lean towards the old classics, like the Ithaca 37. If you can get one with a 26inch barrel you're launching.

A little heavier and harder to find is a nice Model 12 in 20. Don't be afraid of the 12ga though.
