20 ga. question

I'd forget the shotgun and livetrap it with marshmellows as someone suggested. Cover the trap with a sheet set it up once you get them in it you can pick them up without them spraying. Take them to a quiet pond or stream and put them in davey jones locker.... No mess no spray and no wounded skunk drama in the neighbourhood. Best of luck!

Do like takman says. Even easier method is to have a large plastic tub or a large garbage can filled with water. Once your skunk is in the trap just cover it up with the tarp and drop him in and go for a smoke. Come back in five and no more skunk and no spray.

Regards to sending said skunk for a bath I have a pond in the back yard so that isn't going to be an issue. I will try the trap again. I think a friend was able to trap one last year with my trap. Once in the trap I don't think they can spray due to it's height.

Anyone know how to get rid of the slugs in my yard? They have killed large patchs of grass, suck out all moisture I guess. It was a really dry year last year here.

Depending on the size of the trap and if they can get their tail up. They can spray. I caught a small one in a larger trap and that bugger could get his arse cocked up to spray.( before I learned to use the sheet) If you use the sheet it keeps them calm til you can get them to the bath. As to your slug problem I'm not sure how to deal with those. Best of Luck!

btw I never shot a skunk. Aren't they like other animals?

Shooting it in the head will cause instant death for sure. But I would expect that the few following seconds where all the nerves are freaking out would cause it to spray. No?
