Have any of you guys ever seen 20 gauge #1 buckshot (9 pellet)?
I've been looking for the stuff for ages, and all I've come up with is Rio makes it, but their Canadian distributors don't answer messages.
I don't really want to have to buy the stuff to hand load 20g, and roll crimp, but it's looking like that may be the only option.

The Canadian wholesale distributors don't answer messages? They may only answer messages from their resale customers. You may have to find someone who sells Rio to ask for you. I know a lot of wholesalers don't answer regular retail questions as they don't deal with retail sales.

I did a quick search and all the ammo came up Rio, Spartan, or small custom shops in the US. I believe Spartan is related to Aguila (rebranded?) which are made in Mexico I think but I don't know if it's the same factory as Rio or not. I do remember reading something about the Rio factory being in Latin-America even though they are US owned, but don't recall the details.

Had a couple retailers who sell Rio trying to get it from distributors too, they haven't heard anything back :\
I didn't see that spartan one before, I'll look into that one.

Still have not found a retailer for BC legal 20 ga buckshot

What do you mean BC Legal ??
I have a few boxes of #3 Buck for my 20gauge auto loader I plan on using this fall.
What is not legal about it instead of begrudgingly trying to reload some buckshot ammo why not find an alternative to the RIO brand.
Something like Remington or Federal gold Medal ammo that can be sourced at (choke) Bass Pro , Cabela's or Whole Sale Sports or any of the many sponsors on the top of the home page?
Proven results from Factory ammo beats home loads ....
Just some thoughts on the topic.

BC legal is 20 gauge or larger, #1 buck or larger. You could't go after a deer with a 20 gauge using #3.

EDIT: http://www2.gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/sports-recreation-arts-and-culture/outdoor-recreation/fishing-and-hunting/hunting/regulations/2016-2018/hunting-trapping-synopsis-2016-2018.pdf on page 24

I came into a couple of boxes of the Rio and patterned it out of several 20's, I found that it worked very well and was consistent velocity-wise. I don't have my notebook here as I'm on the road, but if I could find a case or two I wouldn't need to buy 20 ga buckshot again, I'm quite certain...

I don't get the fixation of 20 gauge buckshot in #1, 2 or 3 for big game of any kind. Used myself #3 in the past on a jackrabbit and although it killed the big hare, it did so, but just barely!
Therefore, myself I would not think of 20 gauge buckshot as a viable deer harvesting toll, that is, unless you are standing on the deer's back when you pull the trigger.
Other CGN deer hunters have posted their, also not so wonderful, deer hunting adventures with #1 buckshot in the slightly larger 16 gauge on the hunting sub forum.
Why even bother??

my 2 bits only

I wouldn't use if for deer unless it was all I had, then I would be extremely choosy with my shots. I use if for coyote at closer ranges and for any other time that I want buckshot rather than birdshot, primarily for compressed downrange safety areas...

A lot of the guys looking for the stuff are hunting island blacktails, and are stuck with using it. These deer are pretty tiny anyway, it doesn't take nearly as much oomph to kill them.
