20 Gauge Buckshot?

There is Buckshot, and then there is Buckshot. I have a number of boxes of Federal Premium 3" 20 gauge with #4 Buck as shot. Do not think I have ever seen larger shot than that in factory 20 gauge. Apparently, #4 Buck is about .24" in diameter - not to be confused with #4 Bird shot - about .13" in diameter.

And, as result of Post #3, I went looking on line and Remington Express is sold in 2 3/4" with 20 x #3 Buck shot (.25" diameter), so a bit bigger than #4 Buck shot. Learned something!!

I have factory 20 Gauge loaded with #3 and #2 buckshot. I buy it whenever I find it, it's not too common unfortunately.

I know I have buckshot I know it’s federal red box but I have no idea where it came from. What I do know is when we still had a cabelas, federal had switched box styles and had special/anniversary editions that cabelas was unloading cheap. All the 20g stuff was 6.99 across the board if it was in those boxes so most likely from there, but that was years ago.

Have you asked your LGS to bring in some RIO 20 gauge buckshot #4
I buy this buy the case of 250 for about a buck a piece

I use a fair bit and reload 2 3/4 with 21, #4, buck stacked in layers of 3, 1 0z wad, buffer of your choice, cardboard overshot card to keep the buffer in the shell

Full choke puts most of the payload in a 20 inch circle out to 50yds and pays absolute hell on coyotes in the bush or up close

I wonder if there is just no demand here (everyone has a 12 gauge) or if the shells are mostly sourced from the states, and they are selling out there..
